Fastest Centuries in ODI Cricket

  1. AB de Villiers

There is hardly any cricket fan that doesn’t know about this terrific batsman as he is one of the most dangerous batsmen who have played the limited over format. AB de Villiers has scored the fastest hundred in ODI where he used only 31 balls to score 100 which comprised 16 sixes and nine fours. This record is even the fastest that the centuries scored in T20 internationals. 

  1. Corey Anderson 

This New Zealand’s batsman came very close to AB de Villiers when he hit a 36-ball century against West Indies in 2014. Anderson remained not-out throughout the innings and scored 131 runs in total with a strike rate of 278.72.

Back in 1996, Shahid Afridi scored the fastest hundred in ODIs by scoring a blistering 100 runs off 37 balls against Sri Lanka. This hundred was Afridi’s second international hundred and he later went on to be Boom Boom Afridi because of his fearless batting style.

Famous as a member of the golden generation of South Africa, Mark Boucher, the wicket-keeper batsman also features on this list with an odi fastest century using only 44 balls. The innings comprising of 10 sixes and 8 fours, allowed South Africa to win the game against Zimbabwe by 171 runs.

Unarguably, one of the greatest batters in International cricket, Lara is famous for his multiple records and while many people remember the 400 runs that he scored in a test match, his quick and witty hundred for only 45 deliveries is a feat to watch.

The Pakistani batsman never stopped once he started hitting runs and this can be proved by his second appearance in this list. Afridi smashed a record hundred using only 45 balls against Arch nemesis India 9 years later after the master class ODI debut.

Jesse Ryder also scored the fastest hundred of his career against West Indies using only just 45 balls and creating the perfect plot for Anderson to come and hit his fastest hundred.

Jos butler is one of the biggest cricketers of the current generation and is the only cricketer featured on this list who is still playing. Butler showed his awesome batting skills by scoring a hundred in just 46 balls on a tough pitch that was not providing help to the batters.
