Dayara Bugyal – A memorable trek

Introduction

Uttarakhand is well known as the land of God. The place becomes an adventure filled with stunning beauty by the blessings of God. In whatever field you are working, whenever you think of one week break the name first comes to your mind is The Himalaya region. The main reason behind it is definitely the pleasant weather but the other reason must be the picturesque beauty of all the places in this region. 

Adventure lovers also get opportunities for paragliding, mountain climbing, rafting, skiing and many more. Trekking is the most common adventure for individuals as well as family and friend groups. For the pilgrims some of the toughest treks are- Kedarnath, Vaishno Devi, Gangotri, Yamunotri etc. In between the mountains there are many valleys and meadows which are not very common but tourists love to trek through the natural green carpet area. If you have a moderate trekking plan then you can go for Dayara Bugyal trek.

Daraya is referred to as a circular plot of land in the local toungue. During the whole journey you can witness different formats of landscape at different altitudes. After returning you will say “Wow”, “Splendid” and search for some more adjectives to describe the tour.

Let us plan an amazing itinerary according to the days required for this trek. 

Day 1

The journey begins from Dehradun Railway station or airport. The pick up will be done by your travel agent from any of these locations. The first night stay will be at the base village Natin. During the journey to Natin River Bhagirathi will always be beside you. 

Day 2

The very next morning actual trekking will begin. The destination will be Gui campsite. It will be easy to reach there witnessing the forest of Rhododendrons if you are visiting during spring or summer. You can view prominently the Gangotri and Shrikanth peak from Gui Campsite. Night stay can be made memorable with local aroma.

Day 3

Enjoying the walk through the forest and playing hide and seek with sun rays, you can reach Chilpada, the next destination. It will hardly take a half day trek to reach Chilpada. The other half day can be utilised by strolling around the place. View of Bandarpoonch will give another feather to your visit at this place. 

Day 4

You can not believe the 22 kms. trek is going to be completed in that easy way, without any tiredness. On the 4th day you will summit Dayara top at a height of 12100 ft.. From the summit you can see all the peak Bandarpoonch and Dodital ranges. After spending some time at the top you have to come down to Nayata campsite. Maple and Rhododendron trees make this campsite more beautiful. 

Day 5

The last day of trek will be descending  to Base camp witnessing once again the roadways views. It will take 5-6 hours to return to base camp. You can take a rest. If you have energy left, you can roam around to bag more beautiful memories. 

Day 6

The travel agent will arrange to drop you at Dehradun from Natin which is almost 6-7 hours journey.  

Seasonal facts:

If you are visiting in summer, there will be a snow melting view. Soft, fresh grass will lead you through the meadows. Day time temperature will be around 25 degrees and night will be at 7-10 degrees. The sheep are grazing under the shepherd’s care. Their hurry to eat reveals the taste of fresh grass. 

In spring, the temperature remains between 15-20 degrees in day time and 1-5 degrees at night. You can touch a little bit of snow waiting to melt here and there. Little sprouts of grasses are trying to rise their heads after the snowy winter.  

The grand time to trek Darayal is in Autumn. White snow filled peaks trying to touch the clear blue sky. The green mountain folds under that white snow will give the eyes a great comfort. The colourful flowers will cover the pathway and taking selfies in this scenery will be worthwhile. All the peaks will be clearly visible during this time. Temperature remains between 8-12 degrees in day time and 2-3 degrees 

at night.

Dayara Bugyal trek is not to judge whether you are a good trekker or not. It is for a break from your hectic daily schedule.
